On May 6, May 23 and June 5, Liang Qian, Vice President of Huazhong University of Science & Technology ("HUST"), led a team to the School of Mechanical Science & Engineering, the School of Life Science & Technology and the Library to investigate and hold the summary meeting of Phase I pilot work of "A Form" platform ("the platform" for short) and the kick-off meeting of Phase II pilot work.
Relevant staff from 6 pilot schools, namely, the School of Mechanical Science & Engineering, the School of Life Science & Technology, the School of Computer Science & Technology, the School of Environmental Science & Engineering, the School of Basic Medicine, Tongji Medical College, and the School of Sociology, respectively introduced their pilot situation of the platform, and put forward comments and suggestions on the problems encountered in the process of promotion. The Library introduced the development of academic achievement database which is one of the supporting systems of the platform. The Network and Informatization Office and the Network and Computing Center reported arrangements for the Phase II pilot work. Liang Qian spoke highly of the Phase I pilot work. He stressed that the development of the platform is not only the key work of university informatization, but also an important part of the university's duty of providing quality services for the faculties and students and improving the school governance level. HUST will resolutely continue to promote the platform. All pilot schools and all administrative sections and directly affiliated units participating in the platform development should further summarize their experience to build a more efficient and intelligent version 2.0 of the Phase II "A Form" platform on the premise of ensuring security and reliability.
Leaders from the units which are proposed to join in the Phase II pilot work attended the meeting. They are the School of Mathematics and Statistics, the School of Physics, the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, the School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation and Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics.
The platform was launched in March 2018, and started pilot operation in six pilot schools and also in the Network and Computing Center in January 2019. The platform provides 1,003 faculty members with services such as annual data verification and filling, annual performance assessment and annual assessment registration form filling, and provides rich visual data display functions for school administrators and faculty, which provides powerful data support for school's decision making and the personal development of faculty. Now, the platform includes 61 data sheets in five categories, including teaching, scientific research, personnel and public services, with nearly 2,000 data items and nearly 125,000 records. In the process of pilot promotion, all units overcame difficulties and actively promoted relevant work. Among them, the School of Life Science & Technology, the School of Mechanical Science & Engineering, the School of Computer Science & Technology and the Network and Computing Center completed their data verification and annual assessment of the faculty using the platform, with remarkable results. In 2019, HUST will continue to expand the pilot scope of the platform and launch the Phase II pilot. Five units including the School of Mathematics and Statistics were selected as the Phase II pilot units through voluntary application.
