On June 15, 2021, Face-scanning payment was finally available to faculty and staff after several rounds of discussions among the Network and Informatization Office, Network and Computing Center and Logistics Department of HUST.
As an extension and further development of campus card functions, face-scanning payment shows the genuine service awareness of HUST's sectors. It was built into an intelligent POS terminal which was put into formal use at a meal window exclusive to faculty and staff in Bai Jingyuan cafeteria on June 15. This time, the terminal provides not only campus card and QR code as payment choices, but also face-scanning as a brand-new payment experience, bringing lots of conveniences. Therefore, even if they forget to bring campus cards and phones, face-scanning will guarantee the meal consumption. As an extension and further development of campus card functions, face-scanning payment shows the genuine service awareness of Network & Informatization Office and Network and Computing Center.
Up to June 30, 2021, the face-scanning payment instead of campus card has been used by a total of 562 people. The new payment method has brought convenience to faculty and staff for dining, and therefore has been well received by faculty and staff. The Network & Informatization Office, Network and Computing Center and Logistics Department will also continue to collect user needs, follow up with the development of new technologies to expand and improve campus card application scenarios, and gradually expand facial recognition technology to other application scenarios to provide teachers and students with more high-quality, efficient and convenient service.
