In order to ensure the access of teaching, scientific research and office buildings to campus network upon the completion of decoration works, according to the Campus Network Management Methods of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Management Methods of Computer Network Construction in Infrastructure Restoration Projects of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, the specifications and procedures for building campus network in decoration projects are clarified as follows:
1. Network scheme. A special scheme of network layout shall be developed and reviewed by the Network and Computing Center prior to the decoration.
2. Cable specifications. The network cable adopts cable Category 6 of a qualified brand. Before the wiring, the cables, wires and weak current shop drawings shall be sent to the Network and Computing Center for test and review.
3. Distribution of information access points. In principle, each room shall be provided with two information access points, respectively for wired and wireless campus network. The wiring of information access points in each room converges in the network computer room of the building. Indoor AP may be wall-or-ceiling mounted. A 3-meter cable should be reserved for the wireless information access point which is located near the AP for later installation of wireless equipment in the network center. The wired information access point is installed near the door frame. If there are a lot of web devices in the room, it is suggested to set up a small cabinet for indoor switches. It is not recommended to directly connect the cables in the room to the network machine room of the building.
4. Marking. Both ends of the wired and wireless information access points need to be marked for later maintenance.
5. Network access test. Before accessing to the campus network, all information access points should pass the Fluke test, then, the Network and Computing Center connects the campus network to newly decorated buildings.
6. Wi-Fi6 wireless AP and access switches. After the decoration, the Wi-Fi6 wireless AP in the room where wiring is completed as per specifications and the access switch in the network computer room will be provided and installed by the network center. Switches in each room should be purchased by departments themselves.
